¡Bienvenidos a la clase de Español Señora Hrabovecky
Welcome to JP Case
Get ready for an exciting and fun filled year of spanish!
This website is designed for students and parents to stay informed about Señora Hrabovecky's Spanish class. I consider it a privilege, as well as a great responsibility, to introduce you to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. Language is a bridge to understanding other people and their perspectives, which helps us better understand our world. I am looking forward to meeting some of you for the first time this year, as well as seeing familiar faces!
Please scroll down to learn more about our classroom expectations and procedures.
Class Expectations
1. RESPETO (Respect): Treat others in class as you wish to be treated.
2. ESFUERZO (Effort): Put forth your best effort every day. Follow directions
the first time they are given.
3. A TIEMPO (On time): Be in your seat and working on the "warm-up" when the teacher
is ready to begin class.
4. PREPARACIÓN (Preparation): Bring all materials to class including textbook and
completed homework.
5. PARTICIPACIÓN (Participation): Listen at all times and actively engage in all partner,
group and class activities. Remember the old saying "You reap what you sow"?
Well, in Spanish class you will REAPP what you sow!! Let's work together to make it a great year!!
Classroom Procedures Supplies Needed: Students must bring certain supplies to class every day. These include:
(1) A positive attitude
(2) Pencil(s)
(3) One paper pocket folder
(3) workbooks
(4) Agenda Absences: Go to the "Homework" section to see what absent students missed. This section includes what we did in class. ALL HOMEWORK WILL BE LABELLED IN CAPITAL LETTERS! When someone is absent, he or she can access this website to find out WHAT homework they have missed and need to complete.
Each student will also receive the phone number of "un compañero" (buddy) that can be called to discuss missed classwork. That buddy will also be responsible for collecting any extra worksheets distributed during class that day and placing them in your personal Spanish folder. Upon your return to school, it will be your responsibility to view check your personal Spanish folder to see if any worksheets were placed inside.
There is also a homework BINDER in which you can find any information on what we did in class the day(s) you were absent. You have one class period in addition to the amount of classes missed to turn in any assignments. Late Work: All late work is penalized. Incomplete assignments are considered late, and will be returned to be finished. Tests/Quizzes: A parent and/or guardian signature will be required for all major tests. This signature will be considered a homework assignment, and must be returned the day after the test was returned to students. These signatures are a way for parents to stay informed about their student's progress in Spanish class. Homework (Tarea): ALL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS ARE TITLED IN CAPITAL (UPPER CASE) LETTERS!
All homework will be posted on this WIKI site as well as in the classroom. Write the Internet address in your Spanish Take-Home folder so that you can access it from home as necessary. If you have been absent don't forget that it is your responsibility to check your class shelf in the back of the classroom to collect any grammar hand-outs or homework assignment that you may have missed. Completion of homework is very important as it is ALWAYS graded!
